Dear Friends,
We are pleased to announce the official launch of the Heart of Yoga Foundation’s Peace Project.
As some of you know, we have been working to establish a program to support yoga teachers in active conflict zones in the Middle East and other troubled areas of the world and to raise awareness of yoga and non-violence.
The goal of the Peace Project is simple and clear: to spread lasting peace in the world by spreading real yoga to the people who need it most urgently. By “real yoga”, we mean yoga that is untainted by ideology or dogmatism - yoga that focuses upon healing the hearts and bodies and minds of individual people, and through them, their communities and their nations. We know that we can spread hope, joy and peace through the world by supporting the work of yoga teachers in areas afflicted by violence and oppression. We know that it works, because we have already seen it work through our early efforts in Israel and Lebanon.
The Peace Project has been under construction for awhile, and we would like to thank all of you have helped over the last 6 months inframing the mission, making phone calls, general planning, and getting the website and infrastructure up and running: C.N. Riley (Chicago), who stepped in to complete the website, Shaun Sommerer (Las Vegas), Margaret Goeden (San Francisco), Melanie King (Sonoma), and the many studios and teachers in the U.S. and abroad who have lent their support and who are planning Peace Practice events with us. So many wonderful places and people!!! Omega, Kripalu and the Esalen Institute, teachers such as Shiva Rea, Sharon Gannon, David Life, Ram Dass, Jonny Kest’s Center for Yoga, Moses Love’s ILoveYoga.com, Amy Heger at Vishnu’s Couch in Germany, Prana Yoga in Tel Aviv, Daren Friesen at Moksha Yoga in Chicago and so many others!
With your help, we can do much, much more. Please subscribe to the Peace Project mailing list and visit our website to learn more about the Peace Project, http://www.hoypeaceproject.org. There are many ways to get involved!
Peace and love to all of you.
